The Dean of Intervention impacts students’ lives by:

  • Embodying, advocating, and operationalizing the mission, vision, and direction of the school
  • Achieving dramatic and consistent improvement in the academic performance of students with exceptionalities
  • Setting the vision for the Intervention Program
  • Reviewing and discussing programs for the school year with the School Principal
  • Observing interventionists - providing targeted observation, coaching, and data
  • Developing and maintaining data trackers (attendance & academic); setting up tools to hold intervention staff accountable 
  • Supporting account creation and setting up for online programs like ZEARN/iReady 
  • Training and implementing DIBELS literacy assessment
  • Maintaining the initial evaluation spreadsheet
  • Developing and maintaining systems for student referrals to SBLC
  • Gathering and completing the necessary paperwork for students in line to get an evaluation and coordinating with evaluators 
  • Working with related services to coordinate when screeners/evaluations need to be completed as part of the comprehensive evaluation
  • Entering evaluation information in SER
  • Coordinating with the Director of Special Education upon completion of evaluations
  • Coordinating with the Director of Special Education around re-evaluations
  • Coordinating with the Director of Special Education around twice annual enrollment projections 
  • Participating in daily, weekly, and quarterly meetings about student achievement
  • Using leadership feedback and goal-setting to improve daily practice
  • Participating in the life of the school, including student activities and events
  • Taking on other tasks as needed

  • Possess Louisiana Special Education Teacher Certification (or equivalent certification in another state)

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • This is an in-person role
